Harness Size Guide
Every Tuff Pupper harness is sized on the chest, measured at the widest point just behind the front legs. Find that number, then pick the harness whose range covers it. If your dog falls between two sizes, size up.

Sized differently: the Hip Lifting - Sling Harness
Senior or recovering dogs. Rear-leg lift support for stairs, cars, and standing up.
This one is not sized on the chest, because it supports the rear rather than the front. Measure from the handle, down and under your dog's belly, and back up to the handle, then use the chart on its page.

If your dog backs out of a harness
A dog reverses out of a harness when there is slack across the chest, or when nothing sits behind the ribcage to stop the harness sliding forward over the shoulders. Both are fit problems, so both are fixed by the measurement rather than by buying a bigger harness.
Measure the chest at the widest point just behind the front legs, pick the size whose range covers it, then tighten until you can slide two fingers under the strap and no more. A harness a dog can back out of is usually one or two sizes too big.
If it still happens, the thing to look for is a third strap. A harness with a girth strap behind the ribcage, on top of the neck and chest straps, has nothing for the dog to reverse through.

The Tracker is the one to reach for first, because the girth strap is what a dog cannot reverse through. Go to the Fast Fit when the chest measures past 40 inches, which is where the Tracker stops.
How to measure
- Chest: the widest point behind the front legs
- Neck: the base of the neck where a collar sits
- Girth: around the deepest part of the ribcage
Measurements should be snug but with room to slide two fingers underneath.
